Ron Berman, author of 12 young adult books, honed his tennis skills on the hardcourts of Los Angeles, California, where he was born and raised. After playing in the juniors, he went on to compete at a varsity level in both high school and college. He also served as a teaching pro for a number of years.

In The Kid From Courage, Ron showcases his familiarity with the world of junior tennis while demonstrating a knack for creating memorable characters and engaging storylines. Drawing on personal experiences, he has fused his lifelong love of the game with an inspiring story that encourages personal as well as physical growth on—and off—the tennis court. Similarly, his Future Stars of America series strives to entertain young sports fans while communicating positive messages about friendship, determination, and the rewards that comes from hard work.

Ron currently resides in Redondo Beach, CA. In addition to writing about sports, he has drawn praise for his nonfiction career books, which feature remarkable young people who emphasize education as the key to a successful future. Ron looks forward to exciting projects in the future, including the release of Live Music in 2010, and a young adult novel, Straight to the Top, in 2011.
